What's included

The private class is our full upper-, middle-, or lower-level ISEE curriculum, delivered one-on-one and adapted to your student. In person, virtual, or a mix - you decide.

Seven private sessions of instruction. Not seven blocks of supervised practice. Our instructors teach the strategies, walk students through the material, and target the specific areas where the student needs the most work. Sessions are scheduled around your student's life rather than a fixed class time.
Practice tests. A baseline before the class begins, and another during the program to measure progress. More are available if you want them.
A focused homework plan. Quality prep that respects your student's time, not rote repetition designed to fill hours.
Our own curriculum. Not a workbook licensed from another company. Every lesson, drill, and explanation in the binder was written by our instructors based on what we've seen actually increase scores over twenty years of teaching the SAT and PSAT.
The best results: Schools that we work with report the highest ISEE scores in the metroplex, and we know what area high schools are looking for in admissions: we teach classes there, too.

We generally recommend building the seven sessions around a specific test date a couple of months out, so the work compounds toward a real, measurable score. That said, the schedule is yours. Sessions happen when your student is available, not when a group class is meeting.

Before you decide

Do you need a private class?

Often, a group class is better.

For most families, a group class is the better starting point. Really.

The class pace works for most students, the social dynamic helps, and the price is lower. We say this on the assumption that you might be considering both options, and we'd rather point you toward the one that actually fits than the one we make more money on.

A private class is worth the premium when one of three things is true:

Your student's schedule won't fit a fixed group class time.
You want the material tailored to your student's specific strengths and weaknesses, rather than calibrated for a typical class mix.
You want one dedicated instructor who learns how your student thinks over the course of the program.

If one of those describes your situation, the private class is built for it. If none of them does, our group classes are an excellent choice and a better value.

The Instructors

In a private class, the instructor is the class.

Most prep companies hire on test scores. It's not enough.

We hire high-scorers too, as a starting bar. A great test-taker isn't automatically a great teacher, though, so we also hire for communication, patience, and the ability to actually explain a problem clearly. And it's not enough to just have been a former student of ours or to have attended a great college. Every instructor goes through weeks of training and mock classes before they ever teach a paying student, whether they attended Harvard, another one of the Ivies, or a top public flagship. It matters.

Real results

What sort of increase can we expect?

It depends on the student. But we've served families across DFW since 2007, and in that time, our students' score gains have run roughly 50% higher than the industry-typical score increase. We've taught thousands of students. Schools we work with consistently score higher on the ISEE than any others in the metroplex.

The methodology behind our numbers matters more than the numbers themselves.

We measure improvement against the student's actual official baseline score, not against a diagnostic we engineered to be harder than the real test. Early or deflated baselines produce inflated gains, and the industry has used this trick for decades to manufacture impressive-looking results. Our increases show up where it matters: on school applications.

No Predatory Prep

Here's what we don't do.

If you've talked to any number of test prep companies, you've probably already encountered some version the same pressure marketing playbook.

We don't do any of that. More is not more when it comes to prep, and the research shows it. In fact, we wrote a long guide on what to watch for in the rest of the industry, and we hold ourselves to the standard the guide describes.

Phony waitlists, "limited" slots, or other FOMO marketing. Parents need the best prep for their student, not a used car sales pitch.
Long term contracts. If a prep company was effective, they wouldn't need you to pre-commit before you see results.
Hundreds of hours of unneeded prep. If we thought more was more, we'd offer it. It doesn't, and it wastes time better spent elsewhere.
Inflated score gains. We measure against a real, official test. No way-too-early or too-difficult "diagnostic" tests.
